And they are OUTTA there…

Well, we have begun our road trip for a lifetime, and it has been interesting.. Seems that Dan Hudson is a pretty sharp uncle to have. When we told him we were towing my land cruiser he said something to the effect of “be careful, as they are a heavy load”. Seems he was right. Our rig has a 330 Cummings Diesel that is powered to pull something more like a jeep, not a land cruiser, and going up some of the passes we went through, well, she just had a hard time. But, pulled it all the same.

We went diving (97 feet on the first dive and about 95 on the second) then loaded up and left San Diego. We didn’t realize that we would be gaining some serious altitude doing that… they call the side effect of deep diving the “bends”, of which we didn’t suffer from, but that was probably more luck than anything else… lucky lucky.

Now both of us have some crap going on. Lynda has a sinus infection and I have a nasty lung thing going on… so antibiotics on board and laying around like a couple of beached seals…. argh… but we are both getting better… just slower than we would like

The family reunion is wonderful, Lynda’s family is good folk, and I truly enjoy the chance to hang with them. and they put up with me pretty well, and I get a good laugh from my JD moment. (JD was Lynda’s dad who passed a few years ago) This is a story that gets everyone in tears. I will share that at a later date… Everyone has a JD story, as he was an amazing man… Sometimes just amazing that you survived the story that you have to tell about him…

But I digress. We are enjoying family, being lazy and soaking up some Colorado heat.  Post more later!

We are now leaving Colorado, heading for Salt Lake City. Discovered that we need new tires for the rig, Lynda’s uncle Dan confirmed what I thought, that they were weathered not worn… So found some tires in Salt Lake City, and will be picking up my nephew on Friday…

We visited Ouray, Colorado, and WOW… beautiful place. Had I not been in such shitty shape with bronnchitis we would have done some serious hiking, but we got a couple of short ones in.. .and I am finally recovering… at least not blowing a lung out when I talk

So once we pick up Garrett, we are off to the Grand Tetons and to Yellowstone… We are both still awestruck that this has finally come around… and honestly?

I hope it never wears off.
